Geromino leads the first Society Export Sale

The first Export-Eligible sale of Dutch Spotted Sheep took place at Swatragh Livestock Market and proved to be a great success. A very high quality of stock was presented by our Irish members and prices remained steady across all classes. The pre-show sale was judged by Mr Dell Amson, Sandstone flock.

Seamus Killen topped the trade, selling Ballintur Geronimo for 10,000gns. Sired by Tiptop Fancy Pants, who was purchased at the 2022 Carlisle Premier Sale, and out of imported ewe, EasyontheEye (IM1819), Geronimo found his new home with Shortt & McAllister.

Second on the price list was the Overall Champion, Male Champion and first prize ram lamb from Mr Liam Campbell. Glencloy Goldenboy, who placed 2^nd in his class at Balmoral Show in May, sold for 5,200gns to an undisclosed purchaser. The winning ram is out of a homebred ewe, Glencloy Emperess and is sired by imported ram, Ellipsis.

Leading the females at 4,000gns was Miss S McAllisters shearling ewe, Artnagullion Foxtrot. Sired by the renowned Challoch Bearskin and out of Glencloy Dolly, Foxtrot found her home with new breeder, Mark Priestley, Limestone.

Mr Robert Nelson, Longfield, achieved the next three prices for his shearling rams. All sired by Challoch Bearskin, Longfield Fablous is out of Highmead Edith and sold for 3,700gns to Roger Jones, Pentre. Longfield Fernando, who’s dam is Glencloy Brooklynn, found his new home with John McKay for 3,400gns. Lastly, Longfield Franklyn, full brother to Fablous, sold to Glenkeen Livestock for 3,000gns.
