Worcester Dutch Spotted trade peaks at 2600gns for Wedderburn

Lot 207 - Wedderburn Forest Lot 208 - Wedderburn Flower

Shearling ewes from the Wedderburn flock of Jonathan and Janet Corbett, Newent, Glos, were in hot demand on Saturday at Worcester for the Society sale of Dutch Spotted sheep.

The first to hit a price tag of 2600gns was Wedderburn Forest, a Glencoy Chance daughter out of a Hiroshima daughter, Lochlad Cuckoo, who was purchased for 3500gns. This one found a new home with Ilona Thompson, Yeovil, Somerset.

Joining her on the trailer back home to Somerset with the previous purchaser and at the same money was Wedderburn Flower. This one is an Beili Everett daughter out of an imported female.

At 1800gns was another shearling ewe from the Corbett family in the form of Wedderburn Faith ET. This Boyo Easy On The Eye daughter is out of the Lochlad Cpt Jack Sparrow daughter, Lochlad Danika. She was knocked down to D Whitcomb, Brecon, Powys.

Ewe lamb trade topped at 2000gns for Windrush Glamorous ET from Windrush Farming Partners, Cheltenham, Glos. By the 2500gns Carlaustan Ego, she’s out of the imported female Daisy of Beech Hay and was the pick of Steve and Sara Gibbons, Brecon, Powys, for the Whatmore flock.

At 1850gns the Corbett’s were back in action selling Wedderburn Gladys ET, a Merryborro Fastandfurious daughter out of Diamond Electra. Taking this one back to Totnes, Devon, were M I and J Bushby.

Ram lambs met a top call of 1500gns, again for the Wedderburn flock, this time for a substitute entry, Wedderburn Golden Balls. By Fastandfurious, he heads across the water to Ballinderry, Co Antrim, with G Hayes.

Meanwhile, shearling ram trade peaked at 800gns for Saveoak Flintoff ET for Laura Monk, Truro, Cornwall, a Lochlad Dictator son out of an imported female. This one was knocked down to S A Loach, Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

Averages: 7 shearling ewes £1755; 12 ewe lambs £1242.50; 10 shearling rams £617.40; 10 ram lambs £867 (McCartneys).
