Despite a modest entry, quality shone at J36 for the North West Auctions Diamond Delights sale last Saturday 27th January 2024.
Judge and Dutch Spotted Sheep Society trustee, Jonathan Marshall from Perthshire, Scotland favoured a flashy aged ewe, Grayrigg Foot Emma Rose from Jack Dixon of Kendal, as his champion in the pre sale show. Emma Rose who is a Navac Blacklaw Concrete daughter and in lamb with twins to Shebb Gee Wizz sold for 1000gns to C.B. Capstck, Grange over Sands. The same buyer brought reserve champion, Grayrigg Foot Emerald Star, again from Jack Dixon, in lamb to Shebb Gee Wizz, for 1000gns.
Top price of the sale went to John Morton of Bank Hall, Penrith when his in lamb shearling ewe, Bank Hall Flame, which is in lamb with twins to Mount Pleasant Garth and sold for 1350gns to D. Barr of Sussex.
In the commercial section, Texel X ewes in lamb to the Dutch Spotted sold to 200gns, Grade 4 Dutch Spotted shearlings carrying Grade 3 lambs sold to 540gns and Dutch Spotted Ewe lambs sold to 420gns.
