E Corfield of Maesteg flock, Montgomery, Powys topped the Dutch Spotted Sheep Society section at Welshpool last week when she sold, Shearling Ewe, Maesteg Gem for 1300gns to Matthews and Son of Knighton, Powys. Gem is sired by Ty-Gywn Duke out of Merryboro Fenella.
The next top price was a ewe lamb, Whatmore Helsinki, with Charollais cross recipient from Sara Gibbons of Whatmore flock, Brecon. Helsinki is a single ET lamb born late January, sired by the notable Whatmore Forty Winx out of donor Whatmore EllieMae. Helsinki sold to E Nicholls of Manor Farm, Uttoxeter for 1150gns.
Following on there were two lots achieving 1000gns each, a shearling ewe, Dustland Gaga, from Chloe Harding of Dustland flock and a ewe lamb with recipient, Whatmore Hotcake ET, from Sara Gibbons. Both sold again to E Nicholls of Manor Farm, Uttoxeter.
Other leading prices included 3 shearlings ewes from E Corfield which sold at 900gns for Maesteg Gold, 800gns for Maesteg Ginny and 800gns for Maesteg Global. Two further lots achieved 700gns, a pedigree ewe with a single ewe lamb at foot from A Breese of Fachwen flock which sold to Evans & Sons of Welshpool and a shearling ewe, Lane Farm Groovy ET, from Sarah Greig of Lane farm flock which sold to D&I Jones of Llanddeiniolen Gwynedd.
