Dutch Spotted top at 2500 gns for Champion
The Dutch Spotted Sheep Society recently held their main Summer Show and Sale at Swatragh Market. Topping the sale at 2500 gns was the overall pre-sale Champion Glencloy Holly from the ewe lamb pen of Liam Campbell, Carnlough. A sought after bloodline being sired by successful Dutch import ram Ellipsis and out of a Bearskin/Mercedes daughter Glencloy Conker she had been placed first in the ewe lamb class and female champion before judge Dwayne Shiels from Donegal pulled her forward as his Overall Champion. The shearling ewe Broadwater Groovy Girl from James Johnston, Aghalee, the Reserve Female Champion sold to J Keys, Fivemiletown for 2200 gns. This strong ewe was out of Drumhirk Dawn and by Craigdoo Feeling Fine. An eye-catching ewe lamb from W E Adamson & Son, Kilroot Howsaboutya, out of a Dutch import ewe, Éclair and by upcoming imported ram Dutch Flash also made 2200gns selling to Orla & Patrick Grant and judge Dwayne Shiels.
Top ram was the Male Champion and Overall Reserve Champion, Derg Harp from S Allen & A Shortt, out of a Diamond ewe and ROI imported ram Coose Gareth who sold for 2000 gns to J Porter, Hilltown. Mark Priestly’s 2nd prize ram lamb sold to J Murphy for 1300 gns and James Reilly received 1150 gns for his strong ram lamb.
