Joint 3000gns peak at Welshpool Dutch Spotted Sale

  • A pair of females led the trade at the Dutch Spotted Sheep Society’s Welshpool sale, when selling at 3000gns.

  • First up at this money was Glan Y Mor Glitter from the Jones family, Gwynedd. Sired by Glencoy Chance and out of Coxhill Eider, she had been reserve female and reserve overall champion and found a new home with Harri and Hannah Vaughan for the Preseli View flock, Pembs.

  • Second at this level was from Annan-based Alastair Jackson’s ewe lambTiptop Hashtag, a Craigdoo Gambler daughter out of Tiptop Fine N Dandy. She was the pick of Alistair Dodd for the Tundergarth flock, Lockerbie.

  • Next in line at 2600gns was another gimmer, this time Wedderburn Gigi from Jonathan and Janet Corbett, Newent, with this one being a daughter of Merryboro Fastandfurious and out of the imported dam Candy Floss. She had been second at this year’s Royal Three Counties Show and was knocked down to Messrs Price and Son, Moulton.

  • Then making 2200gns was another from the Corbetts, this time ewe lamb Wedderburn Holly Hock which is jointly owned with David Robert’s Boyo flock. She’s by Whatmore Guiness and out of Lochlad Danika and had been second in her class at this year’s Royal Welsh. She sold to Henry Jewitt, Barnard Castle.

  • Selling at 2100gns was Merryboro Gogo Doll from Tom and Louise Nash, Haverfordwest,with this gimmer being a Merryboro Cracker daughter out of an imported dam. She sold to previous buyers Messrs Price and Son.

  • Close behind at 2000gns was Wedderburn Giggles from the Corbetts. This gimmer is by Merryboro Fastandfurious and out of Diamond Eliza and was bought by J Bugden and Son,Southampton.Two then sold at 1600gns, the first of which was Tiptop Hakky from Alastair Jackson.Sired by Craigdoo Gambler, she is a full ET sister to the 3000gns Tiptop Hashtag and sold to R Jones,Llandeilo.

  • The other at this money was ewe lamb Ty-Gwyn Hot Chill from Brian Davies, Haverfordwest.She’s by Dutch Magic Man and out of Dutch Queen andwas taken by M Kilroe, AlderleyEdge.

  • Males
    Top call in the males on the day was a 1600gns bid foraged ram Merryboro Fastandfuriousfrom the Corbetts and David Roberts. This son of Dutch Dominator is out of Merryboro Duchess and had stood second in the pre-sale show. He headed home with Messrs Vernon,Minshull Vernon.

  • Next best at 1300gns was Red Wharf Gilbert, a shearling ram from D W Williams, Anglesey.He’s by Haughmond Enchanted and out of Blacket House Elena and sold to G Jackson,Witchampton.

  • Then making 1200gns was the first place ram lamb from the pre-sale show Ty-Gwyn GoldStar, from Brian Davies.Sired by Sunnybank First Class, he’s out of an imported dam and soldto E B Jones, Llanfihangel Y M.

  • And at 1100gns was the first prize ram lamb Lower Argoed Hashtag from Miss B A Jones,Builth Wells. This son of Boyo Gladiator is out of Lower Argoed Foxglove and was knocked down to J Roberts, Llanbedr Y Cenni.

  • Averages;19 shearling rams £685.26, four aged rams £945, 24 ram lambs £479.06, 31 gimmers £918.24, two aged ewes £341.25, 48 ewe lambs £754.69 (Welshpool Livestock Sales).
