The Swatragh Autumn Sheep Show & Sale took place on Friday 19th September, attracting a strong turnout of breeders, buyers, and spectators. The event showcased quality stock, with competitive classes and demand throughout the sale.
In the pre-sale Show, judged Nigel Hogan found his Champion, in the Female Champion, exhibited by Liam Lynn, Doonans flock - Johnstown Haven ET, a shearling ewe, sired by the renowned Saveock Espresso Martini. Reserve Champion and Reserve Female Champion was a ewe lamb exhibited by the breeder of the Champion, Chris Johnston – Johnstown Indian Lass, a daughter of import Dixie Chick.
In the male section, Champion was given to Janet Carsons, Little Whisker Icarus, a son of two homebred sheep for Janet, Little Whisker Guzzler and Little Whisker G Class. The Reserve Champion was bred by Orla Grant, Craigdoo I’m The One, whose brother sold for 1,400gns at the Ballymena Sale.
In the sale, Chris Johnston, Johnstown topped with 1,200gns for his second place ewe lamb (Johnstown Ivey), closely followed by 1,000gns for a ewe lamb exhibited by Alana Steenson, Fellowshall Ice Maiden.
