Judge - Matthew Simpson, Tardoes Flock
The second of our 2025 In-Lamb sales was held at Thainstone market, where we saw a great number of strong sheep brought forward again.
At 2pm, the judging started, and Matthew Simpson had strong classes of sheep brought forward to him, and after looking through each and every one of them, he found his champion in Laurelle I’m Camile, a Ewe Lamb bred by Mrs L E Troup. Sired by the noted Glencloy Chance, this long, stretchy Ewe Lamb really grabbed the judged attention as soon as she entered the ring, and she ended up selling to Judge Matthew for 800gns.
However, it was a Shearling Ewe from M & J Simpson, Tardoes Honey Bryony, who shone in the sales ring and took the top price of the day, and was bought by E Paterson for 1100gns.
Reserve Champion, a Shearling Ewe, Waterside Half Pint from Mrs L E Troup, who was carrying a single to Milltown Guiness, sold to A Nelson for 650gns.
First placed Aged Ewe, Champany Ebony, who was scanned with twins to Ty-Gwyn Hercules and brought forward by J Marshall, caught the attention of E Patterson and was knocked down at 700gns.
Another great sale was held at Thainstone, with some great examples of the breed being brought forward.
