Saturday 3rd January
Judge - Nicola Eminson-Smith
Despite the chilling temperatures at this year's J36 In-Lamb Sale, it was the Overall Champion, Myreside Hotstuff, who stole not only the show but the sale as well.
Clinching the title under Judge Nicola Eminson-Smith, the Shearling Ewe brought forward by C Harding was scanned in lamb to Dexter 2, and sired by Saveoak Eaton. She really did stand out from the rest, and she sold to A Metcalfe for 1600gns.
Next among the top sellers was another Shearling Ewe, this time from D Bezuidenhout’s Black Dub flock. Black Dub Harriet, a homebred ewe scanned in lamb with twins to Outberry Gandelph, found a new home with J Fletcher for 1400gns.
The final Shearling Ewe to reach the 1,000gns mark was another from D Bezuidenhout. This homebred ewe, scanned a single to Irthing Valley I Am Maximus, attracted strong interest before selling for four figures to M Fiddler.
The first prize Aged Ewe, Damson Gardenia, bred by Megan Rowlandson, was scanned in lamb to Tiptop Harv and went for 550gns, selling to P Sherwen.
Ewe lambs saw a buoyant trade throughout the day. The Reserve Champion, Brackenbarrow Impress, bred by R A & J Lancaster, was keenly bid on before being secured by P Sherwen for 600gns.
All eyes were on the second-prize ewe lamb as she entered the ring. Grayrigg Foot Ibernia, bred by J Dixon, quickly climbed to 700gns and was again purchased by P Sherwen.
The J36 In-Lamb Sale delivered impressive prices and lively bidding from start to finish, reaffirming its reputation as a great sale for breeders and buyers.
