Tiptop leads Dutch Spotted female sale at Welshpool at 6200gns
The Dutch Spotted UK official society sale of in-lamb females, ewe lambs, grade up females and recipients carrying embryos saw a top call of 6200gns on Monday (6th December) for an in-lamb shearling ewe from Alistair Jackson’s Tiptop flock, Annan, Dumfriesshire.
This imported female, Daniella IMI261, caught the eye of judge Mike Robertson of the Lakeside flock who placed her overall champion of the pre-sale show. She sold having scanned a pair by Tiptop Dollar for 6200gns to Bethan Jones, Builth Wells, Powys, for her Lower Argoed flock.
Mr Jackson also secured the second highest price in the shearling ewe offering with Cynin Deliah, a Lochlad Commander daughter in-lamb and carrying a single to Tiptop Dollar. At 2000gns this one was knocked down to I and E Lloyd, Llanrwst, Conwy.
Leading the in-lamb aged ewe section was Tom Nash, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, with an imported female, Camilla IM0694. Having already bred a daughter which sold for 2900gns this year, this ewe sold having been served by the import sire Boris, to Bethan Jones to join the top price of the day.
Next up at 3000gns was Messrs Beaty and Kennedy of the Carlaustan flock, Kippen, Stirling. They sold another import female, IM0596 which had been served to Haughmond Eclipse. Taking this one home was G E Davies and Sons, Newtown, Powys.
Then at 2800gns was another from Alistair Jackson, this time his second placed ewe, another import in the form of Bibo IM1285. This one sold scanned for triplets to Tiptop Dollar and was knocked down to D A and MD Wright, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Two females then followed at 2200gns, the first being an import ewe IM0808 from Penrith, Cumbria-based Alan Smyth. This one sold having been served by Eden Dynamite Jack to Messrs Morgan and Jones, Ceredigion.
The next at that money was Tom Nash selling yet another imported female, Cadbury IM0692. This one was sold to E and J Jones and Son, Builth Wells, Powys, having been served to the flock’s stock tup Merryboro Cracker.
Carrying on a strong day’s trade for his Tiptop flock, Alistair Jackson then topped the ewe lamb offering at 1600gns when he sold Tiptop Etta. This daughter of Tiptop Dollar out of an imported ewe, Dylane, caught the eye of D R Davies, Llangadog, Carmarthenshire.
Then at 1300gns was Bethan Jones with her first place ewe lamb and reserve overall champion, Lower Argoed Ella. This one is by Wedderburn Dancer and out of the Gallowhill Balblair daughter, Lower Argoed Daisie. She was knocked down to M and J Evans, Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys.
Of the recipient females carrying embryos on offer, top price here was 1880gns for a recipient ewe carrying twins by Diamond Excalibur out of an imported ewe from D A Amson’s Sandstone flock, Malpas, Cheshire. Taking this one home was R Garlick, Hereford, Herefordshire.
Then at 1200gns was a recipient ewe from Brian Davies’ Ty-gwyn flock at Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. This one was carrying twins to the 3800gns Irthing Valley Elvis out of an imported ewe.
