The Dutch Spotted Sheep Society Sales were kicked off with a bang on Saturday at the annual Harrison & Hetherington Spring Spectacular. Last years’ enthusiasm for the breed continued, with the strong offering of 111 head selling at a steady trade throughout the day.

Nicola Foster, Outberry, set the mood of the sale, receiving top price for her two-crop ewe, IM1582 Cinderella. Cinderella sold with her Lochlad Dictator sired ewe lamb, Outberry Fair Lady, for 3,500gns to Burnmouth Trading, Ayrshire.

Next on the pricelist was IM1207, from J Dixon, Grayrigg Foot. Selling with her twin ewe lambs at foot, Grayrigg Foot Freedom & Grayrigg Foot Forever, sired by Turbo Bont Discovery, this one-crop ewe sold for 3000gns to Middlemoor Farm, North Yorkshire.

Also selling for 3000gns was Alastair Jacksons’ ram lamb, Tip Top Faberge. Sired by Tip Top Ed and out of IM1288, Blazing Heat, Faberge heads to his new home with A & J Carson, Co Tyrone.

3000gns was reached on two further occasions. First, for Jonathan and Janet Corbetts pair of Glencloy Chance lambs, Wedderburn Finians Rainbow (ram lamb) and Wedderburn Foxy Lady (ewe lamb). This flashy duo sold with their recipient dam to S J Parker & Son, Herefordshire.

Finally, Johnstown Fifi, bred by Chris Johnston and sired by the much-admired Carlaustan Extrovert was the last to reach 3000gns and sold to Adam Donald, Co Tyrone.
